A wonderful introduction to newer ideas based on nonlinear dynamics, as well as knowledge from a large number of areas. Powerful non-classical ideas for thinking about complexity, emergence, self-organizing systems, complex adaptive systems, wicked problems. While the universe is nonlinear, linear thinking has dominated Western thought until the last few decades due in part to a lack of tools and ideas to deal with complexity. However, a revolutionary paradigm shift began forming in math and sc …

We're a discussion
group with a focus on rationality, philosophy, science, technology, skepticism and ethics. We choose members who are friendly, very intellectually curious, intelligent, non-religious, and rationally-minded – meaning that we're more interested in figuring out the truth together than in proving ourselves right, or in arguing for the sake of arguing. Our members are young, almost all in the range of 20 to 35 years old.
Our meetings are usually informal group discussion

I love to read but always become stumped when it's time to find the next book. It's also so dissapointing when you read something amazing and you have no one to chat with about it. I'd like to start a group that shares suggestions and has engaging conversations about whatever we just read. We will not only dissect books but also socialize and explore different restaurants across the city. Welcome!
An organization for progressive, forward thinking business people to connect with colleagues who share similar values. We also function as a think tank and organizing platform for the ethical transformation of corporate America; entering the political arena as needed. Our multi-purpose structure is designed to address the following needs and goals: A supportive space for progressives who feel stranded at the water cooler. A place to meet, and do business with, people who share a commitment to …
It is not easy for the western mind—accustomed to its Spinoza, Schopenhauer, Sartre, Hegel, Nietzsche, and so on— to determine whether yoga is, or is not a philosophy.
Yoga is philosophy, because there is no doubt that, with a deep love and great reverence for the Truth, the ancient seers developed one of the most extraordinary philosophies that mankind has ever known, But, at the same time, yoga is not a philosophy, in the sense that there are no topics for debate or discussion

The purpose of this group is to meet other people suffering from bipolar disorder. To discuss symptoms (and how they effect our jobs, activities and relationships), moods, medications, natural solutions, and treatments in a group that attempts to be as neutral and positive as possible. And maybe even make some new bipolar friends.
I started this group because I was dissatisfied with other groups I had joined in the past. Certain discussion

We offer two monthly groups here, as well as occasional special events. The first is the monthly Ex-Christian Support group specifically for ex-Christians (or Christians in the process of leaving the faith) from all denominations. Leaving Christianity can be painful, confusing, and isolating, and the repercussions can be far-ranging throughout life, well after the event. We come together to share our feelings and personal experiences. I act as a non-professional facilitator (I am not a psych …
